No one can ignore the power of Social Learning and the impact it has on the way users learn in this new age of technology. The ability for learners to discuss their coursework together is now common practice. Below is a step by step guide on how to utilise Social Learning in the most effective way through your lessons.
Head to the app settings found by pressing the arrow button located to the side of your account name. Once you are in the app settings, you can begin configuring your social learning settings.
Tick ‘Enable Social Learning’. Once selected, learners will be able to begin adding their own point of view, join conversations and share their ideas with their peers. You’ll also notice the ability to attribute comments or keep comments completely private.
Once Social Learning has been configured to your liking, the next step is to enable discussion on individual slides. The templates on which social learning can be enabled are the Content, Concept, Multiple Choice, Numbers and Relationship templates. In the authoring tool, you’ll a see an option to choose Social Learning.
In the lesson itself, users can see how many comments have been made already by simply pressing the speech bubble icon on the upper hand side of the lesson. Tapping this icon brings up the comments, ready for contribution.
As an SC Training (formerly EdApp) manager, you’ll still be in control of what is seen in each lesson. Social Learning can be enabled on a per slide basis, plus the ability to flag any inappropriate content or remove it. Analytics is another place to see which conversations have taken place. A CSV export copy of conversations between learners can be accessed and downloaded – a useful tool for analysis and further external training.
