Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act Training (CANRA) (CA) Child abuse is widely condemned, yet it remains prevalent in our society today. To combat this issue and safeguard the physical and psychological well-being of children, California designates certain individuals as mandated reporters of child abuse. As a mandated reporter, you have the legal responsibility to report identified or reasonably suspected cases of child abuse. Through this course, learn more about the responsibilities of mandated reporters, recognizing child abuse, and reporting child abuse.
California law requires some mandatory reporters to receive training in child abuse and neglect identification and child abuse and neglect reporting. For example, human resource employees of certain businesses that employ minors and adult employees of certain businesses whose duties require direct contact with and supervision of minors in the performance of the minors’ duties in the workplace are required to receive such training that addresses the requirements of California law at least once during employment. Additionally, certain teachers and other school personnel must complete the training at least annually, and certain individuals associated with daycare facilities must complete the training at least every two years.
